Trio

Trio is the only single composition made up of 3 pieces, carved from 3 blocks of wood. The figures are painted pearl satin and have a matte brown base, which sits on polished hardwood. It is approximately 12 inches tall and was completed in 2005. This piece was inspired by the central scene in Carlos Saura's movie "Tango". This tango moment represents the tension between two female dancers vying for the attention of the male. This movie and this scene in particular was also the inspiration for the choreography of the first performance of Tangroupe, the University of California at Santa Cruz Argentine Tango Group I co-founded in 2006 with Jennifer Small and Brett Griswold.
