Muñeca de trapo

Muñeca de Trapo is a single composition carved out of 2 blocks of balsa wood. It was completed in 2002 and it's approximately 12 inches tall, it's varnished, and it sits on a polished and varnished hardwood base. Muñeca de Trapo is a salsa move, which requires great flexibility and trust on the part of the follower, as well as strength and grace of the leader, characteristics I attempted to convey in this piece. Salsa originated in New York and is a form of social dance with strong Cuban and Puerto Rican influence, specifically from mambo and cha-cha-chá.
