Milonguita

Milonguita was completed in 2001. It was the third piece in this collection and the first double composition. Each piece is approximately 12 inches tall, varnished, and they both sit on a polished and varnished hardwood base. This piece was inspired by Carlos Saura's movie "Tango", and shows a couple dancing a milonguita, a fast-paced dance of clear African influence, considered by many a precursor of the tango. In Milonguita I tried to capture the strong connection between the separated partners and the flirtatious nature of the dance.
